The Annual Reading Pride Parade and Festival is set to paint the town pink on Saturday 5th September 2009 marking it's 6th anniversary in its combat of discrimination within the town as well celebrating diversity within the Thames Valley.

With a New Parade Route publicly making its way along Reading's busy shopping thoroughfare to the festival site at Kings Meadow Park, spectators can be assured that the festival will be the biggest and best yet,

With its usual array of stages, stalls and rides, Reading Pride has secured top acts to fill its two stages including The Dolly Rockers, Natalie Powers (Scooch) and Rozalla - sprinkle this recipe for success with a solid helping of glamour in the form of Glamorous Drag Queens and visitors can be certain that Reading Pride will be a day of entertainment.

This year's festival marks the first outing of the Reading Pride Awards where people who have made a difference to the LGBT Community will be recognised within the town with Presentations being made from the Main Stage. Awards include Lifetime Achievement Award, LGBT Campaigner Award and The Heart of Gold Award.

Reading Pride is a free festival, open to all, and the Festival Event is being sponsored by Unison and the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.

A Press Launch and Launch Party to mark the start of Pride Week is set for 31st August - further details can be obtained by media Officer, Jamie Wake.
