In our transformative journey, we must confront toxic masculinity’s shadow on men’s sports, hindering progress and harmful stereotypes. Simultaneously, trans athletes’ challenges, globally and in the UK, need our empathy and focus. Surprisingly, in women’s sports, over 50% proudly identify as LGBTQ+, emphasizing the link between identity and athleticism, requiring a comprehensive, inclusive approach.
In this crucial undertaking, we express our sincere appreciation to Zebra Technologies for their unwavering sponsorship, shedding light on the journey toward a sports landscape that is both diverse and fair.
Secure your space today on our welcoming platform, where every club enjoys the community rate of just £48 (inc VAT) for a 3x3m pitch.
What’s more, we proudly support LGBTQ+ focused groups within the Thames Valley through our community fund, offering a completely free-pitch, fostering a spirit of inclusivity that resonates throughout the sporting community.
Last year we hosted
Reading Renegades RFC
Since 2016, the Reading Renegades have provided a safe space for people in Berkshire to enjoy rugby, and be their authentic selves whilst doing it!
We strongly promote LGBTQ+ inclusion, and run financial and wellbeing initiatives for our member to remove barriers to participation in rugby.
We are active members in the International Gay Rugby (IGR) Community, participating in their Union and Touch Leagues. We also attend European and International Tournaments, such as the IGR Union and Bingham Cups, helping to provide great experiences and memories for our members.
Berkshire Unicorns RFC
Founded in 2016 we are Berkshire’s first truly inclusive rugby club where everyone is welcome, irrespective of their gender, sexual orientation, age or race.
We offer touch rugby, contact rugby, training only and supporter memberships (and a full social calender!)
Sonning Hockey Club
Sonning Hockey Club had been around, in one form or another, for over 60 years.
We can trace our history back to Reading YMCA who, under ‘founder’ John Poole, formed a mens and a mixed side in 1946. The first teams were called the ‘Travaux Hockey Club’ and recruited mainly from local authority nationalised industries. Early in 1960, a ladies side was formed at the Royal County of Berkshire Sports and Social Club. This side and the Travaux Club merged under the Sonning Hockey Club banner in 1982, at the time running two mens teams, two ladies teams, and a mixed team. From there, Sonning Hockey Club has gone from strength to strength.
Berks & Bucks FA
We are the not-for-profit governing body of football in the counties of Berkshire & Buckinghamshire (pre-1974 boundary).
We are responsible for leading, protecting and supporting players, clubs, leagues, coaches, volunteers and referees participating across the county.
Gay Outdoor Club
The activity & social club for everyone in the LGBTQ+ community across Great Britain.
OutdoorLads Club
OutdoorLads is a friendly group for the gay, bi, and trans community to get together to enjoy adventures and activities. Our events are run by volunteers all over the UK and we also organise expeditions worldwide. There’s something for everyone, no matter your experience, so take a look and #GetOutMore!
