Lead by the Chair the Trustees make the key charity decisions, provide direction and bear the legal/financial responsibilities. They are voted on by the members at a General Meeting.

Trustee

As a Trustee of Reading Pride, you will be a guardian of our charitable aims and objectives, ensuring the efficient running of the our affairs in accordance with the statutory requirements as laid down by the Charity Commission.  Trustees are there to offer strategic advice, support and assistance to the Pride Committee, undertaking oversight and sign off of non-delegated activities. Monthly meetings, and regular online contact with the Committee, as well as diarised formal meetings.

Reading Pride generally has around 20 committee members and 7 Trustees.

Your role will involve the responsibilities of:

  • Act as Trustee of Reading Pride in accordance with relevant legislation / regulations.
  • Provide support to, and oversight of, the CEO, COO and Pride Committee, ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory requirements and legislation; ensure robust procedures are in place for management of all key activities including financial control and contractual compliance.
  • Provide specialist support to individual teams / roles within Pride as required / appropriate.
  • Provide specialist and overall support throughout the period of the Pride Parade and Festival.

Skills you might have

  • Relevant Trustee experience with other charitable organisations
  • Experience in assisting with applying for charitable grant funding
